New issue out soon!!

Few things make me as happy as when a new issue of Elle Decor comes out in the newsstand. I now subscribe, even all the way from Stockholm, and count the days until the next issue pops in my mailbox. I can´t wait for May to come so I can flip through and check out Ellen Pompeo´s home, featured on the cover.

Setting the table

Now that summer is quickly approaching it´s nice to imagine a lunch with friends on the glass veranda or out on the deck. Set a beautiful table with a bright shot of color on crisp white linen table cloth along with decorative plates from John Derian as bread plates. Add a gondola shaped bowl made of horn to serve some greens along with horn and bone salad servers. Napkin rings in the same material tie it all nicely together and makes a nice contrast to the white linen napkins.

Spring has finally sprung!!

After the coldest winter in over 2 decades, spring has finally arrived in Stockholm. It´s sunny and warming up quite nicely which makes me want to redecorate the shop with brighter, more cheerful colors. NYC - forever changing

Every time I go back to NY I am fascinated by how much the city changes. There are new shops and restaurants on every corner, there are bike paths all over the city (for those brave enough) and even though it´s one of the worlds biggest cities, I feel like it´s getting cleaner every day. It´s constantly improving and becoming more "user friendly" with more signs showing people where to go, and "tourist stations" with local maps and directions. Big streets like Broadway and Fith Avenue (by the Flat Iron building) have sectioned off parts of the street with planters and have scattered cafe chairs all around for people to bring their lunch and take a much needed break from the office. Even down in meatpacking where taxis and cars were zooming through the streets, they have planters with trees and made it more pedestrian, which is great for all those party people on the weekend.

With all these changes for the better, I hope New York City retains it´s industrial charm and keeps some of the amazing old buildings that are such an important part to the city´s history. To balance the new glass buildings and clean streets there has to be some of the gritty and dirty left to remind us of old New York.

Window shopping in the big apple!

All my money practically went to buy the ticket to NY so very little money was left for spending, but I had such a nice time just window shopping and seeing all the creative displays around the city. My favorite of all time has to be Bergdorf Goodman on 58th / 5th which has some of the most spectacular windows. Unfortunately I never made it by BG´s this trip which I now regret as I was really looking forward to seeing what was new on the 7th floor which houses their Home department. I´ll have to save some more time for my next visit. If you are in New York or if you plan to visit..I can highly recommend a trip there.. and if you´re hungry, stop in and have lunch in the beautiful restaurant designed by Kelly Wearstler, right when you get off the elevator on 7.

Back from New York

I just returned from New York last night and I must say I am going cross eyed at work today adjusting to the jetlag. It´s always worse on the return.

I had a fantastic week in NY with amazing spring weather. All the trees were showing new little green leaves and the magnolia and cherry blossoms were in full bloom. On the downside, the city has never been more crowded. In all the years I lived there I never experienced so many tourists..spring break and easter had everyone visiting the big apple and the streets were more packed than ever. But home in Brooklyn Heights it was peaceful and quite as usual which made me miss my sweet little neighborhood more than ever.
